Escape on Wheels is a family caravan hiring business based in Canberra ACT. Andrea and Felipe, the founder directors, are always focusing on giving the best experience to hirers, when they book and take any of their caravans.
Andrea and Felipe, originally from Colombia, arrived in Australia in 2012. After living in Australia for a short period of time, they fell in love with the Aussie way of living and made the decision to stay.
After Felipe joined the caravan industry in 2015 as a sales consultant, they were so amazed at the Aussie camping culture that wanted to be part of it somehow.
In 2018, after doing their first trip with their first child (Sebastian) in a hired camper trailer, Andrea and Felipe decided to work on getting their first caravan for hire.
In 2019, they bought their first caravan, a Jayco Swift camper trailer, and published it on Camplify.
In 2021, they welcomed their second child (Victoria) and formally founded Escape On Wheels with three caravans. Since then they have not stopped working on growing the business and offer more caravan options to their hirers.
“Experience with owner & explanation on the trailer was great. The trailer does need some TLC though. Torn curtians, missing screws and scuff marks made the trailer feel quite aged. Didnt expect any kind of lux mattress but would be worth replacing them given their regular use and how squashed and uncomfortable they are. Id recommend bringing an extra blanket to sleep on. The torn curtians and skirtings meant the camper was quite drafty. The zips on all awnings/flies also need some attention/lubricating as they are very stiff and difficult to use. Felt a bit rough being hired out a camper with only 1 burner working. Perhaps lower the hire rate or get these things fixed? Overall would be a great camper if it got some minor maintanance.”

“The van served my purposes well. It was delivered to a semi-rural property where I was visiting family, so it remained in place for the 7 days of the hire where it was used basically as a spare room. Engaging with the business was great. The proprietors were clear, prompt and helpful. I highly recommend this business”

“That was a fun experience for a short stay and Phillipe conveyed all necessary set up instructions clearly and concisely. A lot to take in but I filmed the set up which helped. The van was quite easy to set up really and surprisingly roomy. It towed well and we had no problems. Any communication was replied to promptly. The only issue was mosquitoes getting in side corners but we remedied that with some removable tape. It would also help if you bring a mattress topper for extra comfort maybe. We had a good time and will upgrade next time to a solid side one for difference. Cheers”

“Had a lovely time! The owners were very prompt with communication, and gave a very thorough and helpful handover. A neat and comfortable little vehicle with a good amount of storage space for its small size. Came well-equipped including chairs, table and kitchen equipment. We took it to the snow and were toasty warm inside with the supplied heater!”

“This small hybrid van tracks incredibly well on bitumen and dirt roads. The water capacity was sufficient for 8 nights at campsites with no available water sources. The solar panels ensured that we had lighting throughout the trip, could run a small fan in hot conditions and provide power to the water pump. There was plenty of ventilation to take advantage on any cooling breezes. This is the 2nd time we've hired this van and other than a couple of small issues everything worked as expected.”

“The Jayco CrossTrak is an excellent little van, with a comfortable double bed, the option of two smaller single beds (bunk and converted seating), a well appointed and simple kitchen, hot water, and a well sized awning. There is storage under the bed accessable from outside as well as a few little cupboards inside. We brought our own bedding but bedding can be supplied. There is cutlery and crockery, but check how many people are camping as you may need to pack a couple of extra plates. There are camp chairs and all the hoses you need to power and water. The van is heavy so a 4WD with sufficient towing capacity is a must, especially when your car and the van are loaded, but it is a stable van and easy to hitch and tow. We enjoyed the van, it was warm and comfortable and easy to tow and reverse into the camping site. Felipe explained the van efficiently and showed all the inclusions and the set up. He was available for a verbal handover and a separate pickup which was ideal for our timings. Everything in the van works, and is in great condition. Would recommend!”

“I used this van and the annex at the Numeralla Folk Festival weekend and it was ideal. The van's electronic braking system plugged into the 7pin on the Subaru Forester and connected via Bluetooth to a phone app. I had good visibility in side mirrors when towing the van. Arriving early, there was open space to park facing North for the solar panels, and to leave the van hitched. Putting up the annex for the first time was a two person job. There is a very high step up into the van. I use a CPAP machine and the van battery plus solar ran the fridge during the day and my CPAP for 2 nights using the single 12V cigarette lighter type connection. The van and annex was admired by other campers. My mini break was great !”
